"Sport is more than a game to L.A.C.E.S. We work to create a sustainable, replicable model of community development using sports as a tool to reach at-risk youth and empower their local communities. One of the fundamental principles of the L.A.C.E.S. model relies on full integration of local community leaders into all aspects of the organization."
International Rescue Committee
"The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. In more than 40 countries and in 26 U.S. cities, our dedicated teams provide clean water, shelter, health care, education and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people."
1 Journey Festival
"One Journey amplifies refugee voices and enhances public awareness of refugee talents and contributions. We strive to build enduring allies for refugees and use cultural and technological tools to facilitate human connections between refugees and their host communities."
KindWorks supports newly arriving refugees, and much more, including serving meals and throwing parties in shelters, cleaning up parks and neighborhoods, helping homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals get back on their feet, setting up fully furnished and well stocked homes for families having had to flee domestic violence, and dozens of other flexibly scheduled, selfless acts of support and kindness.
Solutions in Hometown Connections recognizes that most refugees resettling in the U.S. must overcome tremendous challenges in short order. Resettlement agencies provide refugees with social, medical and employment services for 90 days from the date of their U.S. arrival. Families need support well beyond the 90 day timeframe as they begin a life vastly different from the one they left behind. SHConnections provides this critical continuing support.
